Ahmedabad Literature Festival
— Literary festival, Shreyas Sankul · Paldi
Less corporate than Jaipur, more intimate than Delhi, and taking place in a city with a genuine literary culture in three languages: Gujarati, Hindi, English. The Ahmedabad Lit Fest hosts 60 to 80 speakers across three days in a restored heritage compound. The Gujarati sessions are the best-attended.
Now in its seventh year, the festival has found its audience: readers who come for the conversations rather than the celebrity authors. The programming is genuinely diverse — novelists, poets, historians, scientists, filmmakers — and the discussions go places that more polished festivals don't allow.
Passes: ₹500 for the full three days, which includes all sessions and the book fair. Day passes ₹200. Most speakers sign books in the evening and are accessible in a way that Jaipur has made impossible.
