Sattva Yoga
— Yoga studio, Usmanpura
Run by a former CEPT professor who studied in Mysore for two years and came back with one idea: teach the traditional method, without modification. The Mysore-style morning practice starts at 6am. No music. No mirrors. No adjustments until you ask for them.
Vikram Nair's studio is 800 sq.ft. of clean wood floor, good light, and nothing else. He teaches a maximum of 15 students per session. He is not warm in the way of many yoga teachers, but he is precise, and his adjustments — when they come — change things.
New students start with a mandatory two-week assessment before joining the regular practice. This weeds out the casual browsers. What remains is a serious room that has produced several students who've gone on to study in Mysore themselves.
